ok i just got into late flips and am progressing a hell of a lot faster than i thought i would so i was wondering about flip late flips. i've seen chris haslam do shuvit flip late flips and nollie heel late flips and in both the first flip either only flips halfway or goes about 3/4 of the way. so i was wondering is this how you do some of your flip late flip tricks? would you count this method? or is it a bit of a cheat?

well, to be honest sometimes its a bit hit and miss, it depends how i feel and how determined i am to land the trick well. flips that flip half way and go back i count as a seperate trick, all be it undesired, on the whole when i land them i get full flips in which ever directions i am flip-late flipping or late shuving,
i would suggest you learning nollie late hardflips, just dod your nollie late flip as normal, but pop it as a nolli eb/s shifty, then late flip and let it rotate beneath you
for flip late flips, my general rule to get the full flip is to do the initial kickflip/heelflip/whatever as if i am going to do a well-caught double flip, so the board flips faster, so i can whip out again at whatever needs to be done, the real trick to it though is completely ignoring the first flip and just adjust your timing to do the late flip ever-so-slightly later than usual, giving the board time to flip, catch then flip again
its just a question of timing really

cheers for all that. never thought of nollie late hardflip, it seems like just a small extension of the nollie late flip. although i get the feeling it won't be that easy. still it'll be good fun smashing my shins up learning it.
