the quote 'god is dead' has been bothering me for some time, if i rmember correctly its a quote from niztche (i've forgotten how to spell his name, a correction of spelling and of quote source welcome where applicable...probably in both cases). any way the quote is often used by atheists and anti religion types (not to say i am pro-anyreligion, i hold no concrete beliefs at present) its is only quoted in part, usually used to imply that god does not exist, but the quote in full 'god is dead and it is us who killed him' would from my interpretation talk about the diminishing faith in a God. i don't know, but to quote 'God is dead' as a basis for an atheist arguement defeats the point of atheism as to say 'god is dead' would be to acknowledge the existance of a god in the first place in roder for it to die... maybe i'm just being silly though

i think a lot of people would say this without even realising they're (mis)quoting nietsche, they just like to piss religious people off and think they're cool being atheists and proclaiming god is dead, without realising the fact that they aren't the first person to say it, and they're completely raping the original context/intent in which is was said. they also wouldn't realise they're in fact acknowledging the at least tempory existance of a god, which throws away their entire belief, as if they don't believe in god they mustn't believe he created the universe - however if they even briefly give way to the idea that he was around, for however small a time, they are immediately saying that they're wrong and god was around to create all this...then he died.

If God had no begining then surely he can have no end either if he is eternal.

to quote an against me song title 'those anarcho-punks are so mysterious'. it was also quite a popular phrase of the punk culture in the 80's, or was that the phrase 'all dead', damn, can't think straight with my allergy medicine.
