Today, I learned oldschool varial flips and m80 flips. I noticed that all an m80 flip is is a old varial flip caught at about 90 degrees and pivoted. Why are old varial flips and m80 flips considered 2 different tricks? It's like the two styles of hardflip.

because you are oding the m-80 wrong the board should stay flat as in an ollie flip, so you do your 'classic' flip, land on the nose and pivot like a kickflip nose pivot if you will.... it should stay facing on direction the whole time until you land on the nose and pivot to fakie/switch where as the varial flip does a shuvit type thng and flips...

I suppose I just do it a weird way When I do a regular classic flip, I end in switch. I can't do them to my normal stance. I set up and flip it and it spins backside (from a goofy stance POV)....... Alright, time for a weird thought. If an m80 flip is a classic kickflip revert/pivot to switch, then was a doing a switch m80 flip? I flip it like a regular footer does, but I catch and pivot it back to my normal stance (goofy).

I'm pretty sure everyone does old skool flips with a body varial, thats why people catch it in pivot - so you end up riding regular again.
On a side note, has anyone done a new skool m80? (kickflip bodyvarial pivot) I've been quite close before when I've tried.

I don't understand. I'm completely confused. And a newshcool m80 flip? The way you described it it sounds like a sex change revert....... I'll have to try it sometime.

Newschool m80 flip? Sounds like that's worth learning. Finally, I've found something worth spending my time on.
