So I was walking down the street the other day, and everywhere I turned I saw someone wearing a shirt with a skateboard logo scrawled across the front, or some random person holding a skateboard. This got me wondering about where our sport is going, but more importantly where we are going... It seems like it's almost every day I see some corporation raping and gutting our sport, just to milk as much money as they can from us -- and to what gain? A terrible movie? An inferior product? Another cookie-cutter 'sk8r boi'? I've seen a few trends come and go, and I've never really been able to perceive (or maybe I just haven't really cared) what it does to our society -- maybe I'm just becoming a skateboarding dinosaur, or maybe I just resent all of these little kids 'invading' the sport I love, and not giving it the same respect I do -- Hell, maybe I just take skating too seriously. Where do you think we're going? I'm not referring to what tricks or feats will be attempted/done, rather where the sport is going as a whole. Okay, that's the end of that -- sorry about the long read

well big companies will continue to take advantage of skating until people lose interest. the most recent change i heard was that 411 was sold to some big sports guy and he had ideas of making 411 into a weekly tv show or even worse a reality tv show. is this the direction skating will go? i fucking hope not

Big companies are just like a cancerous growth on our beloved sport. It will continue to suck the life out of us until there is nothing left. They will exploit us in the utmost fashion, taking everything they possibly can, turning our sport into a mockery for lame asses to come in and dabble around in, and finally pull the plug when we are considered the "not cool" thing to do. Then we'll be left to pick up the pieces and rebuild our sport.

i hope skating becomes like a family pastime. that would be so funny. watching these people skate around in spandex shorts talking to their kids about their homework on the big family skateboard.

Skateboarding has always been whored out. I just saw a skateboard on saved by the bell the other day. Its not a big deal. Who cares who else skates, because you know they'll stop as soon as everybody else does.
Speaking of which
I just asked a kid the other day why he doesn't skate with us anymore. And his response was "Well its only you 2 guys. NObody else skates, so I dont want to"
That was a direct quote my bruthas

So I was walking down the street the other day, and everywhere I turned I saw someone wearing a shirt with a skateboard logo scrawled across the front, or some random person holding a skateboard. Are you talking about those stupid skate shirts that say " Good, Better, Best" and "Sk8 hard" ect. made by nobody companies?
