Does anyone else know what muay thai is? are there any other muay thai boxers here?
basically muay thai is more bad arse than you, i don't even think full contact muay thai is legal in the states, my understanding is that elbows aren't legal unless the fight is held on an indian reservation or some crazy crap like that.
muay thai is basically thai boxing...kicking, knees, elbows are legal, everything else was legal until some guy was so badarse he refused to stop fighting and was killed.
does anyone here do boxing or some other actual fighting skill? (if you bring up karate and the such i will hurt you...)

muay thai is the hand to hand element of the ancient thai fighting system. Muay thai used to be no rules, anything was legal and the only way a fight was stopped was if one of the competitors submitted or was physically unable to continue fighting. Rules were introduced after a thai fighter refused to submit while dying on the ropes, and was then killed in the ring. Nowadays headbutting, biting, gouging, choking and groin shots aren't legal, but elbows and knees and all the other good crap still is. a big thing in muay thai is "conditioning" wherein the fighter is subjected to pain such as knees/kicks to the ribs to the ribs and so on so that in a fight the hits will have little effect on him. This is why muay thai fighters are almost impossible to "hurt" in most senses, and why they will keep going without fail.
Asian martial arts people decided they'd try fight muay thai fighters in a challenge on the thai claim that muay thai is the best fighting style in the world. In every fight the muay thai fighter won within a minute of the first round by knock out.
Yes Saget from street fighter was a muay thai fighter, and one of Jax' styles in Mortal combat deadly alliance is muay thai. sagets cool and so is muay thai.
PS if you didn't realise i'm a muay thai fighter. does any one else box or the like?

when i get drunk i start fights with people in the room just for fun. now i do it when i'm sober probably because i have alot of pent up anger and playing drums doesn't get enough out. its all in good humor though and now i intimidate people too so its all good. but no i don't train or condition but legend of drunken master was a sweet movie, i'll have to try that out this weekend.
