Why isn't clarinet a REAL instrument? Is it because you can't play and therefore can't respect it?
I play piano, bass guitar, double bass, and I sing (classical/jazz).
I've been trying to learn cello and some violin, but I don't think those are REAL enough for you. I also would like to learn some percussion so that I can someday be in a marching band.
Oh, being able to play an instrument does not make you a musician. I know plenty of people that can play instruments, but they aren't musicians, they can just play instruments.

I think Brockraum has to open his eyes and see that even the more "unreal" instruments can be cool.
I play in the school band and it sounds damn good. We have trumpets, flutes, trombones, clarinets, saxophones (alto and tenner [sp]) and we have a big bass drum (well, two of them). It sounds good.
When Broken says that they just play instruments and aren't musicians, he means that to be a musician you have to make music. To be an instrument player you have to just play music. I hope you got that before I explained it.
Anywaaaaaaaays......I play guitar, trumpet, I know basic drum beats, just started learning some bass, and sing (well not really...I just sing my own way-screaming because my screaming voice sounds good.)
All instruments are cool. I guess I can put it like this: "If it makes good music, it's a REAL instrument."
And no one instrument has disappointed me with the music it makes.

i'm not trying to slam anyone here and you must see that i dont find my trumpet very fun because our school band sucks the big one. We have like 30 people and no one can play that well. allthough i do like alot of trumpet in ska. I was just trying to start a conversation and worded it wrong. i know all musical instruments are equally challanging. i take musical theory and technique classes to know that. i just ment rock instruments and i know that has a wide range of things. thats all.

I play guitar (electric and acoustic(steel string and classical)) Trumpet, Piano, Drums, Bass (although I don;t own drums or bass guitar) Those are all the isntruments I play that could be put in a band. Trumpet could be put into a ska band, but I dunno.

Wow. Its as if you go to my school and I'm you. I hate trumpet, I'm sick of it, and our class blows at band.
