Yeah, yeah, old news, but then again I only recently got to play this game. DOOM 3 is one of the best shooters I've played in a long time, and just because of it alone, I'll be buying an Xbox.
So much for my boycott of Bill Gates [/bad joke]

yeah its cool, but i like the original and doom 2 so much better. I think its because when you play on ultra violence there are so many enemies to kill, it's carnage all around you. doom 3 has some kickass graphics and the pinky demon is awesome though.

Yeah, that's about the only thing I really missed in Doom 3, was having a shitload of enemies to deal with. Though, to it's credit, the fights are still pretty intense even with fewer enemies to deal with. I also miss the enemy corpses that pile up with every kill, but that's pretty minor overall.

I think duke nukem was the coolest shooter. If duke nukem forever ever comes out that game will rape everything.

that game is never ever coming out. i swear i was reading previews for that 4 or 5 years ago. i still have duke3d and it is a kickass game. the best thing about it is the one liners which i might add were stolen from one of my favourite movies of all time, evil dead. hail to the king bruce campbell the real duke nukem

its taken so long coz two or so years agp they started again with a new physics engine or some shit.

they'd have too, cause the game would already be dated by the time it was released. but then even if they did start again two years ago its still going to be dated. when i can be bothered i'll look into it and see what the word is but i still beleive its never coming out.

i looked into after i made that post.
It's not so much the code was the problem, they just had too few people working on the game and too many problems and whatnot. so they started again with a new physics engine and some other shit, i don't think it'll be outdated, apparently at this stage the game size is 9gig.

Ah... I've barely played Duke Nukem at all. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't find an old copy of the PlayStation version floating around somewhere...
One of the newest shooters out now, though, is Quake 4. Anyone played that yet? It looks sweet.

i think it runs on the doom 3 engine so big plus there. its also got team work and all that stuff. plus a nice twist halfway through the game is that you are turned into one of the enemies. i haven't played it yet, i'll wait til its cheaper.
recently i've been playing through the original quake, i love that game especially the nailgun.

Now I wish I had a copy of it...

i need to get quake 2 up and running again. good times that game. though i wish they kept the whole hell theme instead of selling out to aliens. what's the plot in quake 4?

probably the same as quake 2 but with better graphics. besides 1st person shooters (with a few exceptions) don't need much plot, its all about the shooting the crap out of things with bigass weapons.

Here's your Quake 4 story. Short and to the point, as expected.
So basically... it's like Quake 2, but with far better graphics, and some emphasis on teamwork.
