Until recently, I never really liked the DC Video. I could never figure out why, especially because everyone seemed to sing its praises. I finally figured out what was missing from the majority of it.
For lack of a better term: gnar. Most of the video is stylish or technical, with good lines and small ledges, but no real stair sets, huge ledges, or even good pool parts. The ridiculous part is that half of anything featuring the aforementioned gnar is in amateur sections. The second half belongs entirely to Danny Way, who does good vert, but I've never been terribly interested in his street skills(he looks too stiff).
Now, I don't often need a lot of stuff like that, but in something like the DC Video, it really needed more of that. In the end, I only really end up liking the am sections and Stevie Williams's part.
Oh, I also got sick of seeing Love Park. I know that Philly has other spots, dammit, if all I'm going to see is one city, I don't want to focus on the same place I watched throughout Photosynthesis.

i absolutly hated all the am sections in that video because i just found em so freakin dull. in case you can't tell after reading this reply and my last few defending daewon song in your previous thread, i'm all about the tech, don't really like the gnar too much. so i guess i'm freakin biased

i liked stevie's part and AVE's part. way's was the werst. i fuckin hated it. and even more so when everyone wanted to suck his dick because of it. handrails are getting tech anyways like switch big heel boardslides and dudes like greg lutszka are taking it up a fucking notch especially with his laser precision normal stance big heels

i too found it very dull. i just got this is skateboarding the day before, and was all hyped on reynold's part. ave's part was ruined for me by the switch mongo. still good. the switch mongo in the whole vid almost made me vomit. thank God for brian wenning. i didnt like stevie williams' part, in that it really left me hanging on the end of his lines, like he would push once after a trick, and i would think he was gonna do something else, then it goes to another trick. he also skates way too slow. i dont really see the hype over danny ways vert part, nothing i havent seen over and over by rune glifberg, except for the super ramp, that was insane. i really liked ryan smiths part, in that i just like the way he skates, not necessarily hammers, just that i like his style. and by the way, all of lyndsey robertsons part, 100% of the trix were done in dying to live, but bigger and better. like he heelflips the hollywood 16, and smoother than either of his heelflips, which he should stop doing, because i dont see whats so great about his particular heelflips. that dragged for awhile. adios

yeah, i forgot ryan smith's part, that was good. speaking of f/s flips, james brockman has the best f/s flips ever, better than andrew reynolds in my opinion, check his part in subject to change, heckers

Well, I didn't say it was devoid of any gnar, I just said it doesn't come up much.
